Every wine has a story to tell, and in some cases, because of the meaning they hold, we believe it’s worth knowing, especially when it is closely tied to the history of the winery.

Enrique Mendoza Cortés, founder of Bodegas Mendoza, considers himself first and foremost a winemaker, a person who primarily cares for the vineyard to achieve the best fruit. He often says, “Only the best grapes produce the best wines.” His challenge is to craft wines that allow us to recognize the landscape, our sun, our light, our Mediterranean character, and our humanity. Every bottle must be a true ambassador of the territory and the people who make it possible.
Santa Rosa, a Gift in Tribute to His Mother and All Mothers Around the World
Among all the wines crafted at Bodegas Mendoza, Enrique wanted to create a special gift for the person he loved the most and who had the greatest influence on his personality and his passion for nature: his mother, Mrs. Rosa Cortés Devesa, a fundamental pillar in his life. So much so that his favorite wine, the one he considered the most balanced, aromatic, and well-rounded, he decided to name after his mother. However, he didn’t settle for simply using her first name but elevated it to a higher level by calling it “Santa Rosa.” Today, it is possibly the most recognized wine of the winery, and with every bottle, Enrique wants to honor his mother for everything she has represented in his life—not only her, but all mothers around the world, for all that they represent.
Santa Rosa, a Wine That Mothers Love
This is a wine that is meticulously cared for, from the vine to the bottle label, just as mothers deserve after giving their all for their children. It’s a wine with character and great personality, a profile that Enrique is sure his mother would have loved. Today, Enrique often interacts with the numerous visitors to our winery, and during tastings, he especially asks the women in the group if they liked Santa Rosa. Their facial reactions reveal to him every day the admiration he felt for his mother.

That’s why we invite you to participate in this campaign on our social media profiles, creating a message of love and affection for your mother. Please include your full name. You can participate until May 2nd. The team of women at our winery will select the 25 most beautiful messages, which we will publish on our website www.bodegasmendoza.com.
Afterwards, we will open a public voting process that will remain active until May 16th. The most voted message will win a special “Mother’s Day” pack.
